CONNOR KOOISTRA

About Connor

Connor Kooistra is an urbanist, environmentalist, and architectural preservationist who aspires to become a licensed architect in pursuit of designing a more sustainable, financially solvent, and livable world.

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Architecture and a concentration in Historic Preservation and Restoration. Beyond the built world, he is an outdoorsman at heart and has spent many summers working in the Boundary Waters as a wilderness canoe guide and educator, as well as one season in Alaska working with the Department of Natural Resources to make the wilderness more accessible to all. Since returning from the forest, he has exercised his passion for design with Urban Design Associates in Pittsburgh going on three years. Through his work with UDA on thirty-four projects and three pattern books, he has honed his philosophy that well-designed urbanism has the power to enhance quality of life, social connections, economic welfare, and even protect wild places. His ambition is to be an architect and urban designer who embodies the backcountry rules of Leave No Trace to offer a healthier world to those who will inherit it.
